Hello Again,

I work from home a couple of days a week and usually have the news on in the background when I do, and I seem to hear almost every week some new and disturbing reports on mental health and teenagers. Whether it's an increase in suicidal ideation or a new study on teens with anxiety, it's apparent that today's youth are really struggling.

As a psychotherapist, my job is not only to help the clients that come and see me lower their anxiety but also to understand where it comes from. This part of the equation is often missing in explanations to parents and newer therapists, so I made a video about understanding five of the root causes of anxiety. You can watch it by clicking the link above.

1. REALITY-BASED ANXIETY

2. EXISTENTIAL ANXIETY

3. INNER CRITIC

4. EMOTIONS

5. ATTACHMENT

There's a handout with some thought-provoking questions attached to it if you click here
